Your  participation in the Portland Nursery School cooperative
program will enhance the relationship you have with your child and
reinforce your message about the value of school.

As a cooperative parent you are encouraged to share your talents
in the classroom. Join a warm and welcoming environment where
you can be with your child as you both learn and grow.
We are delighted when parents offer to teach a foreign language,
share their music, play sports, or even facilitate a cooking class.
This is not a mandatory requirement, the coop offers many
opportunities for you to help out.

Parental involvement is
essential to making a cooperative
environment successful.  It's a great opportunity to share in your
child's experience and to meet fantastic people.  The following
things are required.
1)  A parent is
required to work in the classroom, assisting the
teacher, approximately once every second week.  This is so much
fun and a chance to meet your child's friends and see how they
interact.
2) A parent is
required to attend a monthly meeting in order to be
up to date with the administration of the school and to have some
input in the month’s activities.
3) Each family is
required to help chaperone some of our exciting
field trips.  This, again, is fun and a tremendous chance to see your
child in action.
4)  Each family is
required to assume a position within the school.
These jobs are simple and generally administrative in nature.  They
do not take up a lot of time, but their value is immeasurable.
